My Journey...

...has followed a unique, non-linear, improbable trajectory, and continues to evolve. From childhood in upstate NY, to Sapporo, Japan as a high school exchange student. Next, Western Massachusetts for college, including a year at the San Francisco Art Institute. Then the Big Apple for 5 years, Hong Kong for 3 and a half, back to New York for 5 more, followed by 5 years in Tokyo, and finally Los Angeles. Unimaginable...

I'm a "multi-potentialite", someone who hasn't had 'one true calling', nor lived a narrowly focused life. Instead, I've synthesized concepts from multiple fields, sought adventure and engagement with new ideas, gone deep, and crossed disciplines. Rapid learning, life-long curiosity, and filling the most pressing needs of the moment have been my "superpowers".

My professional roles include:

  • Co-Founder of a mindfulness golf product business

  • Creative Services & Management Consultant in Hospitality and Healthcare

  • Founder & Executive Director of an Integrative Oncology Practice

  • President of an Acupuncture University

  • VP of Marketing for a fundraising firm serving the non-profit sector

  • Director of Marketing & Operations, HBO Films

  • Sr. Marketing Director with Japan's oldest PR Firm

  • Associate Producer, MET Opera

  • Producer, Ogilvy & Mather Ad Agency

  • Photojournalist in Hong Kong and Tokyo

  • Sports photographer & studio manager

Three years ago, when I transitioned from fulltime caregiver for my now 100-year-old mom, I was free to re-envision my life and contemplate how I might be of service and make a difference. As a lifelong foodie, exercise, nature, and healthy-lifestyle enthusiast with a background in the ancient healing arts, I made my way to Maryland University of Integrative Health's amazing Health Promotion Master's program. Wow! And now it's time to put this education to work. I'm raring to go. I seek to create cultures of health and wellness based on integrative practices and enduring trust.

  What's Next...

So, what might this look like?

  • Roles that make good use of my senior leadership experience and broad background to create change. I'm approaching this transition with humility, with an openness to a full range of possibilities, and without preconceived notions. Some initial thoughts include....

  • Creating a multi-modality integrative program based on mind-body practices to reduce stress and burnout in a healthcare organization, which was the primary focus of my master's degree studies. It's a serious, long-standing crisis, the potential benefits are huge, and the cost of such a program quite modest. I'm curious to discover how open healthcare workers are to developing self-care habits. Would they experience improved quality of life? And might they act as innovators or early adopters, encouraging family, friends, and patients to follow their lead, proving the "Diffusion of Innovation" theory?

  • The target audience doesn't have to be healthcare workers. The Society for Human Resource Management’s Employee Mental Health in 2024 Research Series, released in May, “found that 44 percent of 1,405 surveyed U.S. employees feel burned out at work, 45 percent feel “emotionally drained” from their work, and 51 percent feel “used up” at the end of the workday.”  And the Surgeon General issued an advisory in late August 2024 on the mental health and wellbeing of parents. I’d be happy to work with other groups.

  • And it needn't be my program nor have burnout as the health issue... Perhaps an existing wellness program needs guidance and support or a new program is being considered and you're looking for the right person to make it happen. Let's talk...
