Research - MUIH Journal Club

I was honored when Marybeth Missenda, M.S. Nutrition and Integrative Health, B.S. Pharmacy, Assistant Professor and Program Director of Integrative Health Studies at MUIH, the instructor of my “Introduction to Complementary Health Approaches” class, and someone I respect enormously, invited me to co-present at the July 2023 Journal Club. Conducted in a pediatric trauma center in Southern California, the research study was called “Effects of Acupuncture and Acupressure on Burnout in Health Care Workers: A Randomized Trial”.

Journal Club is “… an educational meeting where university faculty, staff, and students gather to discuss articles in the scientific literature”. It’s “…an opportunity to become more comfortable with reading and interpreting research articles and…explore a specific topic”. A faculty member selects an article from the CIH (Complementary and Integrative Health) literature and “shares it in advance with attendees, along with a few questions to stimulate discussion.” “The facilitator leads Journal Club participants through the highlights of the article, raises any interesting aspects, and responds to submitted questions” (https://muih.edu/?s=Journal+club+links)

It was a great experience! Please view the PowerPoint presentation below and click on the link to watch the recorded session. https://vimeo.com/846781939?share=copy
