“Caring for Those Who Care for Us”
A Mind-Body Pilot Program Addressing the Crisis in Health Care Worker Stress and Burnout

Dry Flowers

Rationale

Early on in my program, research studies on stress and burnout in health care workers kept popping up in front of my eyes. Stacks of them. Wasn't seeking them; they just did. May 2022 saw the release of  "Addressing Health Worker Burnout: The U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on Building a Thriving Health Workforce", then I read Zerden's study "Frontline, Essential, and Invisible: The Needs of Low-Wage Workers in Hospital Settings During COVID-19" and this year we "celebrate" fifty years since the word "burnout" was first used to refer to healthcare workers. The good news is: ancient, simple, accessible, quick, nearly cost-free interventions are effective and so is understanding how stress works. So let's get these integrative health modalities out there--for the sake of workers, hospital organizations, and communities! It's time!
